Downsizing in Bloomington

Moving to a smaller home in Minnesota, with a plan that times your sale and your next purchase and never rushes you.

Downsizing in Bloomington

If your Bloomington home is more than you need now, a smaller one can simplify your days. Our office is here, and I'm Lesley, a REALTOR® with Bridge Realty.

How do I downsize in Bloomington? Start the city's Time-of-Sale inspection early, find out what your home will sell for, and decide what kind of home comes next. The inspection applies to single-family homes, duplexes, condominiums, and townhouses.

Use the inspection as your to-do list

The inspector's report tells you which items the city requires you to address. That is useful when you have owned a home for a long time and are not sure where to begin. We handle the required items and skip projects that will not change your price.

Staying in the city

If you buy a condominium or townhouse in Bloomington, the seller of that home goes through the same inspection, so you can review their report. We also read the association's documents before you offer.

Our downsizing page explains the full plan. You can also see what your Bloomington home is worth, how we handle selling in Bloomington, and more about the city on our Bloomington page.

Bloomington is a city of about 90,000 on the Minnesota River, 10 miles south of downtown Minneapolis, next to the airport and home to the Mall of America.

The homes
A large, fully built city, so most homes are existing homes. The city requires a Time-of-Sale housing inspection when a home is sold.
Getting around
Interstate 494 runs across the north side and Interstate 35W runs north to Minneapolis. The Blue Line light rail connects the Mall of America to the airport and downtown Minneapolis.
Nearby
The Mall of America, the airport, Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bush Lake, Normandale Lake, and 97 parks and green spaces.
The trade-off
Some homes are near the airport, so visit at different times of day to hear the flight paths.
