Moving to Cottage Grove

I live in Cottage Grove, so I can tell you what the listing photos cannot. I'm Lesley, a REALTOR® with Bridge Realty.

What is it like to move to Cottage Grove? It is a river suburb in Washington County with more than 1,300 acres of parkland and about 45 miles of trails. No interstate runs through the city, so daily driving depends on Highway 61, which connects north to Interstate 494 and St. Paul.

What to know before you choose a home

  • Older and newer parts of the city. Ranch-style homes from the late 1950s and 1960s are on one side, and newer neighborhoods are on the other.
  • The drive. Test Highway 61 at the hour you would commute, if you can visit.
  • Schools. South Washington County Schools serves the city. Confirm the schools for any address with the district.
  • New construction. Several builders are active. Bring your own agent to the model home.

If you cannot visit first

We can drive the route from a home to your workplace and tell you how long it took. We also walk each home on video, including the street, the yard, and the basement, so you see what a neighbor would see.

The steps for buying from a distance are on our relocating to Minnesota page. More about the city is on our Cottage Grove page, and the purchase itself is covered in buying a home in Cottage Grove.
