Moving to Lake Elmo
If you want open space and you still need to reach St. Paul or Minneapolis for work, Lake Elmo is worth a close look. I'm Lesley, a REALTOR® with Bridge Realty, and we help buyers move here from other states.
What is Lake Elmo like? It sits between Highway 36 and Interstate 94 in Washington County, and much of the land inside the city is still farmland. It has a large park reserve, a small historic downtown, and newer neighborhoods alongside homes on acreage.
Plan My Move to Lake Elmo
Two kinds of homes, two kinds of homework
In a newer neighborhood, you will usually have city utilities and an association. Read the rules and dues before you offer.
On acreage, you may have a private well and a septic system. If you are moving from a place with city water and sewer, these may be new to you. We test the water and inspect the septic system before you buy.
What we check for you in person
For rural property, we walk the land on video, show you the driveway and the road, and point out neighboring uses. We also confirm with the city what you may build or keep on the property.
The steps for buying from a distance are on our relocating to Minnesota page. More about the city is on our Lake Elmo page, and the purchase itself is covered in buying a home in Lake Elmo.
