Buying a home in Bloomington

Our office is in Bloomington, so we know this city well. I'm Lesley, a REALTOR® with Bridge Realty.

What should I know before buying a home in Bloomington? Interstate 35W splits the city. West Bloomington is mostly residential, near Hyland Lake Park Reserve and Bush Lake. East Bloomington is closer to the airport, the Mall of America, and light rail. Because the city is largely built out, you will mostly be choosing among existing homes.

Buying an existing home here

  • Systems and updates. We look at the age of the roof, furnace, windows, and electrical, and price in anything that needs replacing.
  • Airport noise. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is next door. We visit a home at different times so you can hear it yourself.
  • River valley lots. Near the Minnesota River bluff, we look at the slope and the flood map.

For commuters, Bloomington has many routes: Interstate 494, Interstate 35W, Highway 77, Highway 100, and Highway 169, plus the Blue Line to downtown Minneapolis.
